Glitter Eggs

I used to love painting eggs at Easter when I was a kid.  I don't do it anymore though.  First off, I don't eat eggs, and secondly, I don't have any kids living with me, so I think I'd feel kind of silly.

However, I had a vision in my  head of some pretty glittery eggs and just had to make them.  They didn't turn out exactly as planned, but it's always fun to get messy with some Mod Podge and glitter!

Here's what you need:

Materials
-Pretty papers (thinner one sided paper works best)
-Glitter
-Mod Podge and sponge brush
-Styrofoam eggs
-Scissors or craft knife and cutting mat

Steps:
1) Cut your paper so that it's just covers the width of the middle part of your egg.

2) Cut 'teeth' into both long edges.

I added little straight cuts at each point and it seemed to help the paper to lay down flatter.

3) Slather on that Mod Podge and wrap your paper around your egg.

4) Add even more Mod Podge on top.  You might need to you the handle of your brush to push down the paper and make it lay down without bubbles.

5) Let the Mod Podge dry for a bit.

6) Next comes the really messy stuff.  Glob more Mod Podge onto just the top and bottom of the egg and gently brush it down the sides in a sweeping motion.  You're going for a brush stroke effect.  Now you can add some glitter!  Yay!

7) Let your eggs dry again for a bit and then add on one more big sealing coat of Mod Podge.  I really blobbed it on and then just gently swept it down, that way it didn't take off the glitter.

Let it all dry overnight and you should get some very pretty eggs by morning~

I have no idea what I'm going to do with these pointless things.  I'll probably just add them to the Easter cloche I did a couple of years ago that still sits in my dining room.

Are you going to do Easter Eggs this year?  What are your traditional colouring methods?  When I was a kid we didn't have all the fancy pants kits you can get these days.  We just got the old school Paas kits with the basic colours.  It was always fun though.
