Make it Great Monday

What a great turnout for Make it Great Monday last week!  So many great projects.  If you didn't see a comment from me on the craft you shared it's only because Blogger and I were having a game of "Who can frustrate who the most?"  Obviously, Blogger won, blogger always wins that one.  (Don't you love how every issue has something to do with cookies???)

I can't wait to see what you all share this week!  Make sure to visit the other links for more great ideas.

You can share any family friendly crafting, sewing, or cooking project.  Please no giveaways or shops.  You don't have to be a follower of Etcetorize but it sure would be nice.

Please place the button below somewhere on your blog so that others can join in the fun too~

Make it Great Monday Features

Check out a couple of the great projects that were shared at last week's Make it Great Monday !

Top number of clicks went to this great DIY vest from my friend Anne over at Wobi Sobi .

Everyone loves style at lightening speed, and this 5 minute project does the trick~

It was pretty close to impossible to pick another project because I loved them all but, this Pretzel Log House project from Deceptively Educational sort of blew my mind.  Her son had so much fun doing this that he wrote a story about it without even being asked to!

The next time I'm on babysitting duty I think I might be pulling the pretzels out!

Jar of Dreams

I try to be positive most of the time.  I believe in "The Secret" and using positivity to create your future and all that jazz. But sometimes I can't help it, sometimes I get a little down, and even a little negative.

So, I did this craft to remind myself about all of the good things in my life and all of the good things I want in my future.

Here's what you need:

I don't know how I could forget my beloved Mod Podge
but you'll need some of that too and a foam
brush to paint it on~

Steps:
1) I got my Silhouette to do most of the work for me but because I don't really know what I'm doing on the Silhouette it sometimes takes longer than it should.  In any case,  I started by cutting out the words "Hopes, Dreams, Goals, and Wishes" in what I thought was vinyl, but later realized was the transfer paper you use to apply vinyl.

Turns out the paper was perfect because I was going for an etched glass look and this actually did the trick.  I adhered one word to each side of my cute little milk bottle.

2) Next I used my Silhouette to print inspirational words onto tiny little  circles of scrapbook paper and then cut them out.  It's best to use two-sided paper if you can.

3) And here's where you need the Mod Podge.  Apply glue to the flat side of large clear marbles (I still had some left over from my Statement Rings project), place your tiny little circle face down, and apply another coat of Mod Podge to seal it in.

4) Once all of my new inspirational marbles were dry, I mixed them in with the rest of my glass thing-a-ma-doies that I picked up at the thrift store.

 5) And then the exciting part comes....time to put it all into the... ACK!?!?!!?  What the heck?!?!!?

Darn, darn, darn....I didn't think to measure my marbles!  They were too big for the bottle opening.  Luckily this was a project in positivity. I kept my cool, gently pulled the words off the bottle, re-placed them onto something else, and tah dah!  finally got to add my precious dreams, hopes, wishes, and goals~

I added a little hemp twine and placed it on my new DIY bookshelf that I'm getting ready to unveil to you all very, very soon!

What do you think?  I think the small milk jar turned out to be a happy accident.  I really like everything in the rose bowl instead.  That little wavy edge on the top makes it look so pretty.

Leave a comment and let me know...what do you do to keep positive?  This is especially challenging for me as the weather starts to get colder and colder around here so I'm really interested in hearing your ideas.

Hope to see you all on Monday at my "Make it Great Monday" linky party!   Have a great week everyone~

Inspiration Shot: Pink Glove Dance

A slightly different inspiration shot today, because I'm just so darn impressed by my local hospital staff.

Many of you have probably heard by now of the Pink Glove Dance .  It's a campaign to raise awareness about Breast Cancer.  People from the health community get together, produce videos to be posted on YouTube, and try to get the votes to win donations for the breast cancer charity of their choice.  Top prizes are:  $10,000 for 1st place, $5,000 for 2nd place and $2,000 for 3rd place.

The folks at my local hospital created an amazing video (which I have to admit, made me pretty weepy the first time I saw it).  They didn't just dance in their pink gloves, they told a story, a journey.  It's really lovely and inspiring.

Please take 4 minutes and 19 seconds to watch the video and if you would like to vote for it you can go here and click on the like button in the top right hand corner~

Make It Great Monday!

Welcome to another "Make it Great Monday!"  The place to start out the week on the right foot with lots of fun and creative projects from all over blogland!

This week I'm going to do things a little differently.  I'm going to leave the party open all week long so that more people can link up.  Usually I just let it run 24 hours so that I can post features the next day, but I'll show you the popular projects next week instead.

So, go ahead and link up any family friendly crafts, sewing, or recipes that you'd like to share (no shops or giveaways please).

You don't have to be an Etcetorize follower, although it sure would be nice, but please make sure to post my party button somewhere on your blog so that we get the word out about the party.
