Valentine Loot Bag

I've gathered a few goodies for my niece and nephew and figured Valentine's Day would be a good excuse to offload them.

I wanted to just do something simple so I pulled out a couple of paper bags and went to town decorating them.

I used some scalloped scissors to cut the top edge, a little heart punch to decorate underneath that and then made a mask and used some very potent glimmer spray for the bottoms.

I used this week's free Silhouette design (#54281) to make a cute little card and envelope and then just added a tiny little  rosette for some extra prettiness.

Throw the goodies inside and put it all together....

I think they'll be pretty excited when they open them up~

Valentine's Projects

Last year around this time I was invited to appear on our local TV noon hour show to do a few craft projects.

Here's what we did:

It's a bit scary being on live TV but also kind of fun.  Anyone else out there every done something like this?  Leave a comment below~

Happy Valentines Day~

You guys must be very important to me because I rarely ever acknowledge Valentine's day (memories of a very bad and overly dramatic break-up on the big day make me want to black it out), but here you go, just for you, because you really are so very special to me...your very own Valentine's card:

Have a lovely day everyone~

Valentine Bookmark

Here's a cute and quick Valentine craft for you last minute romancers.

You need:
You'll need scissor too if you don't have
electronic cutter~
Steps:
1) Using up your bits and pieces of scrap papers to cut out some hearts.  Mine would fit in a square that measures around 2.75" (7cm) for the large one and 2 1/8" (5.5cm) for the small ones.  This is not exact, just play it by ear.

2) Embellish your hearts by edging them with in, try different colours to get different effects~

3) Add some Glimmer Mist if want a little extra shimmer.
Make sure you have lots of covereage when your spritz
or everything nearby will be covered in Glimmer Mist.
4) Once you've matched up your hearts and decided which ones will go together, turn over the small heart and add some glue along the top edge.

5) Adhere to the inside of the large heart.

And that's it!  Easy peasy!
Yummm, they almost look like pretty sugar cookies!
If you're really romantic (and organized), you could write a little love note on the small heart.

Antony & Cleopatra-the greatest love story of all time~
Make lots for your kids to hand out to their friends.  If you don't do all of the embellishing and have an electronic cutter, this will take you no time at all to make loads.

Show and Tell: Bunnyhugs

I know what you're thinking...what the heck is a bunny hug?  Here in Saskatchewan, that's what we call pull over tops, more specifically the ones with a pocket in the front.  I have no idea where the term came from but that's what we've always said around here.  Besides, it's a cute name, so why stop?

Last week, I showed you my Valentine's Day card  for my neice and nephew and mentioned that I had made something else for them too.

Here it is... two super cute kids in super cute bunnyhugs!

It's almost impossible to get a photo of them not hamming it up for the camera.  They make me smile~

And here's the card with more bling on it than when I first showed it to you.  I need to make another card for someone soon, but I think I'll try to follow a template or pattern or something.  This one feels pretty scattered.  But it was shiny and sparkly and had moving bits, so the kids enjoyed it, and that's all that matters to me.

Do you have funny names for things that no one else uses?  Other things that I think are fairly unique to Saskatchewan are Vico (brand name of chocolate milk that people now use for all chocolate milk), and Siwash (a very heavy knitted sweater with a zipper up the front).  There are loads more, but I want to hear yours, leave a comment below~

Show and Tell: Valentine's Card

I'm going to see my niece and nephew tomorrow so I wanted to make them a Valentine's Day card to go with a little gift I made them (which I will reveal to you in next week's Show and Tell).  It's not quite finished but I thought I'd share anyway.

Keep in mind I am NOT a scrapbooker/card maker.  I did make some mistakes and have to admit that I didn't really enjoy the entire process, but it's coming along.

Is it really possible to measure the same side of a piece of paper three times and come up with three completely different measurements????

That blob hanging down in the middle is supposed to be a heart.  I'm going to head to the dollar store tomorrow to see if I can find some rub on letters or something to put their names on it.  There's no way my penmanship can improve this thing so maybe some ready made letters will do the trick.  Luckily the kids are only 3 and 4.  So, as long as it's sparkly and shiny there's a chance that they'll be impressed~

I'm not really sure that I'll be posting this on the linky parties throughout the week, but hit the tab up top and you're sure to find loads more Valentine's projects.

Hidden Treasures: Love Me

If you're not part of the Etsy community (yet), you're missing out on an incredible place that is totally committed to the art of the handmade.  It's a wonderful place to find everything you need, or just want, while supporting fellow crafters and artists.  It's also just a treasure trove of  great ideas and inspiration.

For something new this year I thought I'd post a treasury of various Etsy sellers each week.  Click on the thumbnail to visit the shops and see what else you can find.  And while you're hanging out at Etsy you can feel free to visit me at the Etcetorize etsy shop~

If an item doesn't have a selling amount below it just means that it's already sold.  Check out the seller's store for similar items, you never know what you'll find!
