Fall is definitely here, and I am definitely obsessed with all of the beautiful colours in the leaves....

I love anything variegated so these ones are really special~

Even at night they're beautiful~

My plum tree looks like it's on fire!

Inspiration Shot: Nature Walk II

Last week I showed you a cute little moss heart I came across while walking in the woods.  Here's another great shot I got:

Please do not leave any comments telling me all about the disgusting insects that made this beautiful log.  I prefer to envision little leprachaun's dancing around in clogs all night with their elf friends and tearing up the dancefloor~

Inspiration Shot: A Walk in the Woods

A few weeks ago my mom and I took my niece and nephew for a little nature walk.  Look what I found!

Do you see the heart??

Inspiration Shot: Giant Pinecone

The biggest pine cone I've ever seen:

On my way to work every morning, I walk past a tree that drops these giant pinecones onto the ground, this is the biggest one yet.  Every day I envision using this to make a beautiful textured bangle but can't bring myself to break it apart.

Pine cones are so amazing.  Did you know that they close up all nice and tight when it's cold outside and open up like this when the sun comes out and heats them up?  I had no idea!  It's pretty neat what you can learn when you take the time to notice what's around you~

What would you do with this beauty??  Leave a comment with your ideas.

Inspiration Shot: Tiger Lily

After a little fact checking before I posted this, I slammed into the harsh reality that all my life I've been under the mistaken idea that the Tiger Lily was the official flower of Saskatchewan.  How could I have been so mislead!  The official flower is actually the Western Red Lily, not the one shown below~

In any case, I've been in a very orangarama mood this week, so I still love how this flower yells out from all of the greenery "Look at me!!"".  The petals are so smooth and such a lovely shade.  But watch out for the insides, they'll make a real mess if you happen to brush up next to it.

This is one of the few flowers that I've managed to keep alive in my garden.  I can't wait to see what comes up this year!

Inspiration Shot:Variegated Flowers

I seem to be instantly drawn to anything that has a variegated colour story to it.  You name it, embroidery thread, sweaters, bargello quilts, and more.  And even though I'm totally allergic to any and all flowers, I still love to get up close and photograph ones like below.  I love how you can see the whole range of one colour all within a single plant.  Isn't nature wonderful?

Variegated, Flowers, Snapdragon, Lupine, Pink flowers, Nature

(I'm not entirely sure but I think this is a snapdragon.)
