One more time... the transfers I got from Wholeport this month!

 This week I'm going to show you all of the fun projects I made using them!

Starting with some super easy handmade tags to put inside the all of the clothes I make for my niece and nephew.

I started with this sheet:

So many choices...

I cut out the portion and that says Hand Made.

Cut a strip of ribbon that was wide enough to fit all of the lettering...

Set my iron to very hot with no steam...

And just ironed them on!  Super easy!

Make sure to let this one cool all the way down before you peel off the plastic backing.

That plastic backing made me very nervous at first.  I thought for sure I'd end up with a mess on the bottom of my nice new iron, but no worries, it didn't stick, and the tags turned out perfectly!

Even up close you can see that there's no residue.

I've tried lots of different ways to make tags but this is by far the easiest.

Cars Top

Well, like I told you the other day....there was a bit of trial and error in figuring out my new stash of iron on transfers from Wholeport.

I thought this Cars transfer would be perfect to make something for my nephew.

He picked out which ones he wanted and decided where to place them on the T-shirt I bought for him.  Unfortunately, I couldn't find the right combination of steam/no steam/ high heat/low heat/etc. to make it work out quite as nicely as I would've liked.

Luckily, he's a boy and doesn't really care about the details.

This is the only transfer from the whole stash that I'm not over the moon about, the rest have really surprised me with how awesome they turned out.

Wholeport has loads of other great transfers, however they're not easy to find.  Look in the quilting section under Decoration Applique.

Do you have any tricks of the trade when it comes to iron on transfers?  Other than ALWAYS washing your garment first I don't really know any other tips.  Leave a comment below~

Ballerina Top

Take a look at all of the great iron on transfers I got from Wholeport this month:

Today I'm going to show you how to use that black one up there in the left hand corner.

When I opened up the package I didn't know what to make of this one.  This is what it looked like online:

and as you can see up top, it's a little different in the package...so I had to do a little test first.

Wow!  I was very pleasantly surprised!  Look at all that detail, and it's flocked (fuzzy).  None of the transfers I received had any directions and through a bit of trial and error I figured out that each one of them has a slightly different application process.

My niece decided she liked the row of ballerina's, so I cut out the row, placed them at the bottom of the top I purchased for her, and used lots and LOTS of heat to apply with my iron.

For this one you have to gently peel off the backing when it's still a bit warm.  Don't wait until it cools all the way down, you'll just have to heat it up again to get the backing off.

I still can't get over the detail you can get with this transfer.  I highly recommend this one, and it's only $4.99~

Newborn Outfit

I had a last minute, spur of the moment, business trip this week so I didn't have time to put together a tutorial for today.  So, I decided to finish off Kids Fashion Week by showing you part of the gift that I made for my co-worker who just had a baby last week.

The cute little heart tree was part of this transfer sheet I got from Wholeport:

I got a whole shipment of different transfers that I'm going to show you next week but today you get a sneak preview.  This one has a sort of plastic backing so I wasn't really sure how it would work. 

The sheets don't come with directions so I had to do a bit of experimenting.  I love how this one came out.  **Important, always wash your garment before ironing on transfers.  The chemicals in the fabric will make it difficult for the transfer to stick if you skip this step....trust me, I've learned the hard way on other projects from the past~

For this particular transfer, use high heat, and peel off before it cools all the way down.

I also added the cutest pair of girly booties you've ever seen.  I had a bit of fabric left over from when I covered my own shoes, and then I just added some pretty lingerie elastic to make sure they stay put on the baby's tiny little feet.

I'm hoping to finish up the baby gift by next week and then I can share the rest for you.

Girls Skirt

Well, this little project almost didn't make the cut for Kids Fashion Week but after looking at the photos I realized it didn't turn out quite as bad as I originally thought.

It's just a cute little skirt that I made for my niece:

I used the same pattern that I used for her brother's shorts earlier in the week. But the skirt just seems way too big to me.

It has a seam in the centre front and back as well as the sides which adds a bit of bulk.  As you can tell, I'm not over the moon about so I'm going to try shortening it and I think that'll help it along.

Flower Power Pedal Pushers

It's Kids Fashion Week here at Etcetorize and I am so excited to show you today's project!  I'm so happy with how well this outfit turned out I'm thinking about making a larger version for myself!

 I used this adorable pattern from Butterick:

Even though I actually bought this pattern from the fabric store (I usually just comb the second hand shops for patterns), it looks like Butterick has already removed it from their catalogue.  Craziness considering how cute it is!

The fabric was part of my monthly bundle of supplies that I get from Wholeport.  It's from the quilting section and was sent as a replacement for something else I had asked for.  At first I had no clue what I was going to do with it.  But I always say "Everything happens for a reason", and eventually inspiration struck me.

I love Wholeport's cottons.  They're great quality, wash nicely with little shrinkage, and many of them are 60" wide!
